3. Decline in Problem Solving Skills
Most everyone will notice that their problem solving skills fade as time goes on, but with those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, the decline will tend to be rapid and very noticeable. For example, an individual may have a much tougher time figuring out how to solve even a fairly simple problem, such as remembering what they need from the grocery store. If you have noticed that your loved one can no longer follow a recipe or has a difficult time getting home, this should be considered a red flag.
As this disease progresses the individual’s cognitive abilities can continue to deteriorate, meaning they’ll find it increasingly difficult to do even simple problem solving tasks. This is because this disease attacks brain cells, and as a result, interrupts important connections in the brain. If you’ve noticed your loved one having trouble doing normal activities, planning, or solving small problems, this could be a warning for Alzheimer’s Disease. It’s also recommended to take note of their ability to follow directions, pay their bills, or concentrate while playing a familiar game. Even if the issues are mild at first they can progress considerably in just a short amount of time.
