Osteoporosis
Though anyone can get osteoporosis, women are more prone to getting this disease that diminishes bone density and strength. There are a couple of reasons why osteoporosis is more common in women. First, women already have a lower bone density than their male counterparts. Secondly, women lose bone mass rapidly. Between 20-80 years old, a women’s hip bone will lose 1/3 of its bone density, while men only lose ¼.
If you want to build stronger bones less prone to damage, make sure you are getting enough calcium and vitamin D, doing weight-bearing physical activities, and maintain good posture.
