Agave Nectar
Agave nectar is being mentioned here, but more so as a what not to use context. While agave nectar is calorie free, and super sweet – meaning you only need a drop or two, it’s super high in fructose, 90% to be exact.
Sweeteners with super high fructose levels are not recommended as part of your diabetic management plan, it’s best to try some of the previously mentioned alternatives.
The best plan to beat your sugar cravings is to ease yourself off sweet foods completely. If you eat whole, natural foods your taste buds will adjust and your cravings will mostly subside. After just two weeks off the sweet stuff you’ll start to find that even foods that are mildly sweet, like apples, will start to taste super sweet and will satisfy your taste buds.
