Relieves Skin Irritation
Inflammation is the underlying cause of many skin ailments, like psoriasis and eczema. Board-certified dermatologist Jennifer Gordon, MD in Austin, Texas explains that aloe-vera gel contains compounds like acemannan that is known to reduce inflammation by suppressing the enzymes that trigger inflammation. However, Gordon warns that it is wise to do a patch test with aloe-vera gel before putting it on inflamed areas, as the gel can cause an allergic reaction known as “contact dermatitis” in some people.
