9. Gallstones
Bile is stored in the gallbladder and manufactured in the liver. The jury is still out on whether or not the gallbladder should be processing high amounts of fat; however, there doesn’t seem to be an issue for those without a gallbladder to be on the keto diet. Some research has found that there has been a benefit to following the keto diet for those with gallstones. However, other research has found that starting a keto diet can lead to increased levels of pain in those individuals with gallstones.
Therefore, if you happen to have gallstones, again we suggest speaking to your doctor and seeking their advice on how to go about dealing with the pain. One suggestion is to add fat to your diet in small increments.
