Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a chronic condition that is characterized by pain and inflammation that affects the soft tissues of the body that cover the muscles of the body. In some cases only one single muscle is affected, often whole muscle groups are affected. MPS treatments include physical therapy, slow stretching, massage, or a combination of the three. It is important to do your best to avoid injury, stress, and anxiety as they have been found to exacerbate MPS symptoms.
