Intercourse Can Hurt the Fetus

We aren’t sure how this common myth started but it is almost always wrong. In general, having sex shouldn’t hurt you or your baby, even if it is vigorous. In fact, sex is usually encouraged, especially during the end of your pregnancy as a way to kick-start labor.

The only time that you should absolutely abstain from any sexual activities is when your doctor or midwife tells you that it is unsafe. There are some situations and conditions that can make sex dangerous but normally you should be able to engage in most sexual acts that you enjoy.
