8. Gestational diabetes
Last on our list is gestational diabetes, which affects only pregnant women. Fortunately, women with gestational diabetes are often fully able to deliver babies that are healthy. However, in the event that a pregnant woman with gestational diabetes does not make sure that their blood sugar is within the normal range are at an increased risk of developing health issues and are also putting their babies at risk.
Women with gestational diabetes are more likely to require a cesarean section due to a larger than normal baby, more likely to deliver a baby with diabetes, and, most seriously, are putting their babies at risk of dying not long after birth. Therefore, as with women without gestational diabetes, it is important for pregnant women to seek regular medical care.
