A Sore That Won’t Heal
If your foot has an open sore that is not healing, you should see your podiatrist or physician for diagnosis and treatment. Apart from just medical care, an open sore that has been there for a while needs to be taken care of to avoid infection further infection.
A lot of people tend to ignore these open wounds, by assuming that they will eventually clear up. If you have a stubborn open sore that just won’t heal, then there are high chances that you might have diabetes.
If diabetes is truly the cause of your open wound, the uncontrolled sugar levels in your blood can cause damage to your nervous system and affect your foot. With the nerves damaged, you will not feel the open sore, and you may not take proper care of it. Eventually, this can lead to infection of the wound and in extreme cases amputation is necessary.
