Burning Pain
A sharp burning pain on the base of your toes and ball of your foot may mean Morton’s neuroma. This occurs when the fibrous tissue that usually develops around the nerves is compressed and therefore irritated. The pain is usually between the third and fourth toes, but can also be on other toes.
To treat the Morton’s neuroma, ensure that you avoid wearing high-heeled or tight shoes, put some ice on the area for 10 to 15 minutes, always rest your feet when you can, and try to massage your feet more often to relax the muscles. If symptoms persist, seek your physician’s advice.
