Things In The Office

Dead Batteries and Electronics

Those dead batteries won’t be resurrecting any time soon. You can throw them away. If you have old lithium batteries, be sure to dispose of them correctly.

Also, did you know that those old cellphones and smartphones sitting in your drawer can be recycled? Drop boxes are scattered throughout the country, but you can also call up the cellphone maker (if they still exist) and ask about sending the phone back. Or, you can donate those old phones. The same is true for old computers and printers.

Junk Mail, Old Bills and Tax Returns

Junk mail is called junk mail for a reason. Don’t hang onto it. You can also toss monthly bills, unless you plan on using them for a tax write-off. Medical bills can also be thrown away, because the insurance company should have all the information on record. You only need to save bank statements until the end of the year. Tax returns that are older than seven years old can be tossed into the garbage bin, as well. Keep in mind that you should use a paper shredder with any confidential information.

Old Magazines

Once, it might have been cool to keep a collection of magazines, but these days not so much. You won’t be rereading those magazines, and you probably have already clipped out anything of use. Recycle them along with any newspapers you have. Otherwise, use them for artwork.
