30 Things Your Home Doesn’t Really Need

Stacks of Books

Sorry, bibliophiles. Don’t mean to make you cringe. However, even the most avid book reader will agree that there are just some books you don’t want to keep in your personal at-home library. Whether you have several old books stacked up or just some old cookbooks laying around, those can go to used book stores, be donated to the library, or gifted to a fellow book reader to free up space in your room.

Decorative Pillows

One or two decorative pillows are nice, but do you need a fort made out of them? Probably not. Get rid of all those pillows that are worn down, discolored, or falling apart.

Tired Clothing That No Longer Fits

Most people will have shirts from their childhood still hanging in the closet, and while there might be some sentiment there, like memories of your first concert, or of someone you love, you can upcycle those tired old clothes to make room your closet. You should also trash anything that is oversized or undersized, too thin, riddled with holes, stains, or just plain outdated. If you find anything in decent condition, you can also donate.

Be sure to go through that horror of a sock drawer too. And don’t forget your ratty undergarments!

Single Earrings

Unless you’re trying to set a fashion trend wearing only one earring, you probably don’t have to hang on to those loners in your jewelry box. The same goes for broken necklaces and bracelets. If you have jewels you no longer wear, or ones that no longer fit, you can sell it online or to a jeweler or gift it to a friend or family member.
