You may also have kidney cancer if you experience persistent pain in your lower back. The kidneys are located below the back ribs. Where does the pain come from? When kidney cancer is progressing, the tumor grows and exerts pressure on surrounding nerves. However, lower back pain may be caused by other problems like weak abdominal muscles and back issues that can strain the lower back area. You should look out for nagging aches or stabbing pain which sticks around for weeks. If that’s the case, visit your doctor for a detailed examination.
