Easy Bruising or Abnormal Bleeding
Unless you play a high contact sport like hockey or roller derby, you are likely not used to having bruises appear out of nowhere. This is often the case for those with leukemia due to their low platelet counts, which can lead to bruising more easily.
Bleeding below the skin’s surface can cause miniscule, flat red spots on the skin known petechiae, which indicate a larger issue. Another common symptom is abnormal bleeding such as persistent nosebleeds or heavy periods.
