Maintain Your Routine

The holidays are a hectic time. Your schedule is bound to become chaotic. Amid shopping for present, planning out family gatherings, and going to holiday parties and events, you might forget to take care of yourself. For diabetics, having a structured day is important to keeping your blood sugar under control. Managing your diabetes means setting up a tentative schedule that holds true, even throughout the holidays. Be sure to include things like daily exercise, wholesome meals, medication, and rest in your schedule.

There is never a good enough excuse to throw caution to the wind when you have a metabolic syndrome. But this doesn’t mean you cannot have fun. For example, if you need to get in some daily exercise, then recruit friends and family to take a walk with you after a holiday meal. Play games outside, weather permitting. Carry your medication with you, so you can take them every day at the same time. Keep a food journal to monitor calorie intake.
