Don’t Restrict Yourself Too Much
Don’t retreat from the sweets. Yes, you read that right. You will still need to practice restraint when sampling the holiday cookies and cakes, but that does not mean you have to nix them altogether. If you want to have a slice of cake, limit the size of it. Optionally, if you plan on having a treat or two, make smarter food choices throughout the day. For example, if you want cookies after dinner, skip the rolls during the main meal.
You can also use your meal planning as a way to work in snacks. If you know that you are going to your aunts on a specific day and want to have that cheesecake she makes, you can arrange your meals on the previous day to allow for that indulgence. Just keep in mind how those treats can affect your blood sugar.
