The Causes of Anemia

Menstruation & Childbirth

Women are generally more at risk of developing anemia because they menstruate and lose blood monthly. Menstruation can cause a great loss of red blood cells, so women who have heavy flows need to replenish themselves with healthy food that is rich in folate, vitamin B12, iron, and vitamin C and rest to ensure their body can restore red blood cells to a normal level.

Pregnancy and childbirth can also cause anemia. During pregnancy, water weight and fluids will dilute the blood. Then during childbirth, any excessive bleeding from birth or surgery can cause immense blood loss, thus ending with temporary anemia.
