Unexplained Cough
In rare cases (among individuals who are asymptomatic), it is challenging to detect blood clots in the legs until the clots detach from the leg and move to the lungs causing pulmonary embolism. This can be life-threatening.
One of the most prevalent symptoms to look out for among asymptomatic individuals is a persistent unexplained cough. Pulmonary embolism is usually diagnosed using other symptoms such as; unexplained persistent coughs which are dry. In some cases, the coughs can contain blood or mucus. However, they can’t be linked to common causes such as a respiratory infection among other conditions.
