Fainting
A blood clot in your leg can also cause you to experience dizzy spells which can cause fainting. This symptom is caused when the body can’t dissolve the clot naturally. It can also occur when the clot detaches and moves towards the lungs. This causes labored breathing since the clot is restricting blood flow which in turn, decreases oxygen levels in the blood.
The dizzy spells tend to increase when you stand (after sitting for a long time). Since this symptom is associated with many other health problems, you should look out for other signs associated with having a blood clot in the leg. Failure to do this usually results in a misdiagnosis which delays treatment and causes more health problems.
Fainting is a serious symptom which must be investigated immediately by a qualified health professional. The symptom can present serious injury risks. You can faint and suffer head injuries or injuries to other vital parts of your body. Fainting can also cause death if it happens when you are operating a machine such as when driving.
