Physical touch doesn’t excite you
Physical touch in a romantic way can be sensual and arousing for many people. It can also be the catalyst for forming an emotional connection down the line. But physical touch doesn’t affect you in the same way. Close contact with someone such as holding hands, kissing, or hugging wouldn’t be appealing to you simply because the interaction is void of emotional connection. You’ll likely avoid these types of physical contact in absence of that bond.
You need and prefer mental and emotional stimulation to develop and maintain your interest in someone. To you, this is equivalent to arousal from physical touching or foreplay. Furthermore, the establishment of this deep connection you seek is not necessarily a prerequisite for sexual attraction or involvement but rather a foundation that makes it possible for it to develop.
