There is little research about the link between Parkinson’s and mood disorders. However, the disorders are a common indicator during the onset of Parkinson’s disease. Some common mood disorders associated with Parkinson’s include; social withdrawal, depression or increased anxiety in new situations. According to Reader’s Digest, Parkinson’s patients are prone to feeling apathetic and disinterested in things/activities they used to love doing. This is similar to the helplessness and sadness felt by individuals suffering from primary depression.
