Dizziness and Fainting
Like sleeping problems, it is common to feel dizzy once in a while. However, persistent dizziness is not a good sign. Symptomatic (nOH) neurogenic orthostatic hypotension which is characterized by sudden drops in blood pressure when you stand up is common among 15 to 50% of people with Parkinson’s. This is according to the NPF (National Parkinson Foundation) which links this occurrence to nervous system failure to make as well as release enough norepinephrine, the chemical responsible for “telling” the sensors in the blood vessels to constrict which increases the blood pressure and pumps blood back to the brain. Poor blood flow in the brain causes lightheadedness or dizziness. In severe cases, it can cause fainting.
