How to Trick Your Brain into Remembering Almost Anything

Break Into Sequences and Patterns

For long numbers or patterns or lists, you can break that information up into more sizable chunks. Lists composed of words are easier, since you can visualize the word spelled or the meaning, or even group words together based on their definition. When it comes to trickier things like phone numbers and PINs or even pi, it gets a bit trickier.

Yet, by breaking down the numbers into a sequence of threes or fours, like phone numbers, or a repeating phrase, or whatever works for you, can help with repetition. It makes your brain think, “Hey, I’m seeing this a lot. I should probably store this memory somewhere safe.” You can also write the patterns, verbalize them, and visualize them within your chosen sequence to utilize other techniques as well.
