Blueberries
Blueberries are known superfood. Despite their tiny size, blueberries pack a healthy punch in every morsel. The deep blue color is home to helpful anthocyanins, a compound that has both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powers. Those antioxidants work against oxidative stress from aging and reduce inflammation through the body, including in the brain. This lowers the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases.
Blueberries also contain antioxidants that have been found to improve communication between brain cells. This boosts your memory and can even delay short-term memory loss. Lastly, a high amount of gallic acid works against stress and its negative effect on the brain. Use blueberries in yogurt, smoothies, cereal, or breads for a sweet yet powerful nutritional snack.
