Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate is nothing like the ultra-processed milk chocolate that is often found on store shelves. Stay far away from milk chocolate and white chocolate (which doesn’t even contain any cocoa) and opt for rich, semi-sweet dark chocolate. Unlike other types, dark chocolate is much less processed and contains flavonols, a type of antioxidant that reduces inflammation.
Additionally, several scientific studies have found that dark chocolate can boost brain function and reduces the risk of dementia. This is thanks to epicatechin, a flavonol also found in berries, tea, and other fruits. If you want to stock up on dark chocolate, opt for bars that contain at least 70% cocoa. Anything else has too little chocolate. You won’t get enough of the antioxidants or benefits.
