Acute Pain

Gallbladder problems cause distinct pain. You should be wary of pain in the middle or upper right side of your abdomen. The pain is also common after eating. This symptom is a sure sign of acute cholecystitis. Acute cholecystitis is the most prevalent gallbladder disease.

The disease is caused by gallstone buildup which causes an accumulation of cholesterol and calcium. Tumors can also cause acute cholecystitis. The resulting pain is dull aching to sharp extending up to the right shoulder. If left untreated, the condition usually progresses and becomes chronic. In such a case, a patient must undergo surgery to remove the gallbladder since it loses in function and increases infection risks.
