Spondylolisthesis
Another disorder that accounts for less than 1-percent of all LBP causes is Spondylolisthesis. However, because pain can be caused, along with other issues, this conditions needs to be addressed. Spondylolisthesis is characterized by vertebrae that slip out of place and compress the spinal nerves. Usually, the condition happens throughout normal aging and trauma. It’s the compression of those nerves that leads to lower back pain. A second symptom is numbness and/or weakness in the legs.
Treatment for Spondylolisthesis includes OTC pain relievers, physical therapy for muscle strengthening, and weight loss. Sometimes, surgery is recommended to decompress affected nerves or fuse vertebrae together to add stability.
