5. Nick Jonas — Type 1
Now the star of Scream Queens, but best known for being one of three brothers in the ever so popular boy band, The Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas has never hidden the fact that he has Type 1 diabetes. Nick was diagnosed at the age of thirteen after he started to experience of slew of symptoms including sudden weight loss, urgency to use the bathroom, and unexplained mood swings, which all happen to be all too common in those with diabetes.
Nick and his family were terrified at first but then relieved to learn that the cause was a manageable disease. Nick has never hidden his diagnoses and has been open about his experience with the disease. He has even written a song about his diabetes experience called A Little Bit Longer. Nick has been lucky in that he hasn’t had to make too many lifestyle choices; for instance, mostly being able to eat what he wants. His openness about his life with diabetes has helped many young people who also have it by giving them someone to look up to.
