Our brains contain a hormone called serotonin, which is linked to improved mood. Studies have shown that serotonin levels tend to increase the more our bodies are exposed to direct sunlight and decrease the less we are exposed to the sun.
In fact, one study conducted by the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry showed that partakers were over 10 times more likely to experience feelings of sadness or depression after suffering low D vitamin levels than those who did not.
