4. Tomatoes
Tomatoes, regardless of what form, are another heartburn culprit. Although they are very good for your health overall, they are super acidic. This means that you should limit your intake of tomatoes and foods with tomato sauce like pastas and pizzas as well as condiments like ketchup and salsa (especially if it is spicy; see above).
5. Oranges
Now that you have a better idea of the relation between heartburn and acid, this one might be a no brainer since oranges are very high in acid. Instead of reaching for a cold glass of OJ in the morning, try instead to make yourself a smoothie with high alkaline foods like berries and bananas or eat some other high alkaline fruit like melon, pears, and apples. However, if you are really craving some citrus fruit, try to have it early in the day, which can limit its effects when compared to later on in the day, especially closer to bedtime.
