Tense Muscles
Those who experience anxiety often suffer from muscle tension. This can present itself in a variety of ways and can sometimes not be noticeable until someone else points it out. For instance, you might not realize that you are clenching your jaw or balling your fists. This might be something you are doing unconsciously.
One thing that can help is exercising regularly. For instance, doing even 20 minutes of yoga a day can work wonders. However, it is important to stay consistent and stick to a workout schedule, since not doing so can lead to a flare up. Even if you were to suffer an injury, it is important to continue to do some sort of physical activity. If not, Winston states that you might become like those who experience anxiety and have a disrupted workout schedule, “suddenly they’re a wreck, because they can’t handle their anxiety in that way and now they’re incredibly restless and irritable.”
