Reduce Your Stress Levels
Stress also dictates a person’s hair health. According to researchers at Mayo Clinic, stress experienced on a daily basis can affect hair health as well as a person’s overall health. Stress affects hair health in three main ways. One, it can cause the condition telogen effluvium characterized by hair falling off within a few months. A significant amount of stress experienced on a daily basis can force the hair follicles to go into a resting phase. When this happens, hair can start falling off in a few months causing telogen effluvium.
Stress can also cause the irresistible urge to pull out hair from the scalp (trichotillomania). The condition is caused by high-stress levels. Stress is also linked to an autoimmune condition (alopecia areata) which makes the immune system attack hair follicles resulting in baldness.
