    Old Age

Older individuals are often diagnosed with anemia. This happens for a number of reasons. The most common reason is a lack of dietary iron, since most elderly people do not eat a lot of leafy greens, red meat, or foods containing enough vitamin B12.

The older populations is also susceptible to chronic conditions that can cause internal bleeding, iron deficiency, and more. Gastrointestinal bleeding, for example, is often a leading cause of anemia. Once an elderly patient has been diagnosed with anemia, they need to be treated for the condition as soon as possible, because it can aggravate heart problems or any cognitive disorders.
