Risk Factors
No person is immune to developing a staph infection; however, some people are at a higher risk. For instance those that lack iron may be at an increased risk due to the fact that their skin might be more dry and brittle, which can be more susceptible to cuts and wounds, which can increase the chances of bacteria entering the bloodstream. Individuals with a weakened immune system and/or who have stayed at a hospital are also more prone to developing an infection.
