Stop Talking
Although it might be hard, especially if you are a chatty Cathy, it is beneficial to limit speaking as much as you can. So make sure to rest your body and your throat by not talking as much as you are used to. Doing so will ensure that you will be able to keep your throat moisturized and lubed up.
The more you talk, the more likely that you will dry out your throat, which can lead to further irritation and inflammation and will only prolong your sore throat. While you are resting your throat, make sure to also rest your body. Although it might not be possible given your responsibilities such as children and work, do what you can to just rest on a bed or couch and help your body recover.
