Fatigue

Fatigue, or feeling tired, is the most common sign that something is wrong with your blood. Unfortunately, many people do not recognize this common feeling as the red flag that it is.

Everybody occasionally feels tired, such as when we have not gotten enough sleep. Fatigue is a feeling of exhaustion that is present regardless of rest, food, or other factors. If you are always tired, even when you have not been exercising strenuously or staying up late, there could be something seriously wrong.

It can be difficult for even a doctor to narrow down why a person is persistently tired. One of the first ways to narrow down the cause of fatigue is a blood test called a CBC, or complete blood count. This will tell your doctor about whether you have enough of the different blood cells needed to have healthy and functional blood.

If your blood counts are normal, there are other potential causes that can be discovered with routine blood work, such as thyroid problems or metabolic issues such as diabetes. Regardless of the issue, most causes of fatigue are treatable once you know the root disease to treat.
