Signs and Symptoms of Stress

Itching Skin and Rashes

Soft, supple skin that itches is not normal. Nor is the recurrence of a skin condition that you thought was long gone. Stress will affect your skin, too. Flare-ups and other unexpected rashes or marks are reactions within the body due to your immune system being dysfunctional. The skin attempts to defend itself, but this can be uncomfortable for you.

Additionally, weakened immune responses make the skin more exposed to infections that cause rashes, like staph. The skin also becomes extremely sensitive, so any skin conditions you had before are likely to reappear.

You can accelerate the healing process by using topical ointments like Bactracin or Neosporin and keeping your skin well moisturized. Drink plenty of water, too. However, if the rashes do not heal or get worse, you should make an appointment to see your doctor or a dermatologist as soon as you can.
