Signs and Symptoms of Stress

Headaches

Headaches caused by stress are not surprising, and most people will blame a stressful day at work for their pounding temples. Many scientific studies have reported that stress contributes regularly to headaches—pain or tension in the head and neck. There was one study with 267 participants that found that after a stressful event, chronic headaches developed in 45 percent of the cases. Another study revealed that more intense stress is associated with more intense headaches at a higher frequency.

There is also a condition brought on solely by stress known as a “tension headache.” You will feel pain in the skull but also within the neck. Should you be experiencing headaches frequently, consider cutting down on the alcohol, staying hydrated with plenty of water, and getting plenty of sleep. You can also try relaxing exercises like yoga to help stretch out those tense muscles.
