Although the exact cause of Meniere’s disease is unknown, researchers have linked the onset of the disease with changes in the fluid found in the inner ear tubes. Other evidence suggests that Meniere’s disease is a kind of autoimmune disease or caused by allergies, genetics, or a viral infection.
