It can take a toll on your heart
Your heart already has its work cut out for it. It has to pump blood to the brain and throughout the body. The more you eat during the festive season, the more work your heart has to do to keep the stomach and rest of the digestive system functioning properly. Consuming large amounts of fried, fatty, salty, or sugary foods such as meat, butter, gravy, and candied sweet potatoes can also aggravate conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes. High blood pressure increases the workload on the heart and blood vessels and increases the risk of heart problems such as stroke or heart attack.
