Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
More than before, older adults are dealing with longer work hours that are sedentary and repetitive. This can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, a condition that arises when the nerve in the wrist becomes inflammation by repeated motion. The inflammation may also affect the muscles in the wrist and arm. The best way to stop carpal tunnel syndrome from occurring is to take breaks and stretching the wrists.
Depending on the severity of your wrist pain, you may be able to reduce the pain and swelling with an OTC painkiller, regular exercise and stretching of the wrists, and a wrist brace. For more extreme cases, you may have to undergo surgery or physical therapy.
