Sometimes Less Is More
Research has also shown that, contrary to belief, sometimes less is more when it comes to working out. More specifically, working out for shorter periods of time more often is more beneficial than working out less but for longer. As we mentioned above, don’t forget to rest. Often times when people start working out they injure themselves as they overdo it. When you are injured your body is not able to retain as much muscle. Speaking of rest, studies have also found that it is important to get adequate sleep in order to retain muscle and limit weight gain. The main culprit for this is that skipping sleep makes your body produce the hormone ghrelin which can trigger hunger cravings.
