Swimming
What do pools, ponds, rivers, and beaches all have in common? You can go swimming! Everyone loves taking a dip in the water once in a while. Swimming is an all-round exercise that is ideal for anyone of any age to enjoy. Swimming helps increase your heart rate but doesn’t become very taxing or put the body under a lot of stress. It helps increase muscular and cardiovascular endurance, helps people burn calories to maintain a healthy weight, and works the heart and lungs.
Children will spend hours laughing and giggling and won’t even realize that swimming is making them stronger and more flexible. There are also plenty of games to play in the water, such as playing catch, tag, Macro Polo, underwater stunts, diving, races, and more. If you are at the beach, you can even pick up a surfboard, boogie board, or teach the kids how to body surf. Just remember to bring life jackets when appropriate and to stay within sight of the lifeguard at all times.
