Microwave Popcorn With Butter

No time is too soon to work on protecting your cognitive power. Not only should you be keeping your brain active, you should be eating foods that are good for your brain’s health. Diet plays a tremendous part in cognitive function. Believe it or not, microwave popcorn is a food that negatively impact your brain. The reason is the fake butter that is slathered on the popcorn. The butter has trans fats, which have been found to increase visceral fat and create plaque in the brain by destroying brain cells and inflaming the brain. This impedes the body’s ability to produce and utilize brain-healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Additionally, another ingredient in the butter is diacetyl, a known carcinogen. The plastic coating of the bag that stops the butter from leaking out is also linked to causing cancer.

Note that this includes movie theater popcorn. Avoid at all costs. Air-pop kernels instead to enjoy a healthy snack full of fiber.
