Increased Tolerance
Addiction increases tolerance. Something you engage in or consume repeatedly is bound to be less exciting over time. This is caused by an increase in tolerance of the activity or substance in question. To continue getting benefits from such a substance or activity, you need to increase the intensity or levels consumed. If you must do this to continue deriving satisfaction from something, you have a bigger issue that needs serious attention. In most cases, increased tolerance also raises a person’s risk levels (the risk you are willing to take to indulge). Addicts may be willing to do things which threaten their lives or put them in harm’s way all in the name of satisfying their habit.
