Inability to Swallow
Brain tumors affecting the brains stem can affect how a person chews, swallows or controls facial expressions. If you start having sudden problems swallowing food, visit your doctor immediately. Brain tumors cause swallowing issues because the tumors tend to cause infratentorial lesions i.e., lesions in the region beneath the tentorium cerebella responsible for controlling swallowing among other functions. An inability to swallow can be accompanied by other problems such as dehydration, aspiration, pneumonia, and asphyxia. This symptom affects a sizeable number of brain tumor patients.
