Aging
The biological process of aging also has an effect on how well you sleep. Although older adults 60 years old and up often require the same amount of sleep as young adults (7 to 9 hours a night), most are not getting that amount. And even when they do, their sleep is disrupted and sporadic.
Some reasons aging adults have trouble getting to and staying asleep include environment, lifestyle, and also a drop in melatonin production. If you are having trouble sleeping, you might want to try darkening the environment, dampening noise, reducing expose to blue light, and taking some melatonin supplements before bed.
