Circadian Rhythm Disruption

Working the graveyard shift, traveling westward and getting jet lag, or having any kind of disrupted daily schedule will, ultimately, affect your circadian—biological—rhythms. Whenever you go west, crossing time zones, are you extremely likely to mess up your body’s natural clock and will struggle to get to sleep. Jet lag can have a lot of negative effects on the body, with insomnia being one of them.

Similarly, working overnight and being forced to sleep during the day can affect your body’s clock the same way. You will feel tired throughout the day and might struggle to get to sleep for the next couple of days until your body adapts to the changes.
