Preventing Cancer
Now that you have seen some of the symptoms that can be caused by cancer, let’s briefly talk about ways to prevent cancer. Though some people inherit a higher risk of cancer, there are lifestyle choices you can make to lower your risk.
You want to get enough exercise instead of being sedentary. Any moderate exercise, such as gardening, cleaning the house, or hitting the gym to lift some weights, will lower your risk of lung and colon cancer while improving your overall cardiovascular health.
Also, you should focus on eating less red meat and processed foods. Swap in fruits and vegetables instead, because they contain antioxidants that repair cells damaged by free radicals.
Be sure to also limit your exposure to smoke, damaging sun rays, alcohol, and exposure to contaminants like radon. Know what you are being exposed to within the environment, not just your family history of cancer.
Bi-yearly and yearly check-ups should be started as soon as you turn 30 years old. Make these check-ups a habit, because most cancers can be prevented if you catch them early enough.
