The Great Dehydration Myth
“You’re dehydrated because you drink so much coffee.” Have you heard that before? Well, you can now tell those people they’re wrong. Although coffee contains caffeine, which is a diuretic to some degree, the amount of caffeine in one or two cups of coffee is nowhere near enough to sap fluid from your body. This finding was done by measuring the urine output of coffee drinkers versus people drinking just water. Coffee drinks and water drinkers both emitted the same amount of fluid. This proved that coffee didn’t inhibit one’s ability to urinate, nor did these people show signs of dehydration. So, drink away.
